CrystaLens
is a revolutionary lens implant that makes it possible
to see far, near, and all distances in between, like
your natural eye. For patients 45 and over who require
reading glasses or bi-focal lenses, or have a cataract
CrystaLens™ can greatly reduce or even eliminate
the need for reading glasses, as well as glasses for
distance.
CrystaLens is designed
to mimic the eye’s natural ability to focus,
and it can restore a range of vision, from distance
to reading vision and all areas in-between without
total dependence on contacts or glasses. Designed
with hinges, this state-of-the-art replacement lens
is moved by the ciliary muscle, which is normally
responsible for focusing your eye’s natural
lens. The muscle relaxes and contracts to move the
lens forward and backward. This ability to move and
focus gives you the ability to see as you did when
you were younger.
This FDA approved procedure,
which uses the safe, proven techniques of conventional
cataract surgery, is usually performed on one eye
at a time. After applying topical anesthesia in the
form of an eye drop, the surgeon makes a small incision
in your eye, and removes the aging lens using ultrasound.
The CrystaLens is then placed where the natural lens
used to be. The incision is so small that it heals
quickly on its own, so no stitches or injections are
required. After having the CrystaLens procedure, you
will not need to have cataract surgery in the future.
Crystalens HD™ Receives FDA Approval
Patients have another choice when choosing Crystalens as their lens implant. Crystalens enhancements are as follows: the surface of the Crystalens HD has been shaped to enhance the depth of focus with a proprietary optical modification. The enhanced optic provides an increased depth of focus which is designed to improve near vision without compromising intermediate or distance vision.
