COSMETIC EYE PROCEDURES

Cosmetic Blepharoplasty

What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty surgery removes extra eyelid skin that is limiting a patient's vision.

Common eyelid problems that may require surgery droopy eyelids, include excess eyelid skin, or eyelids that turn inward or outward. These problems can limit vision, cause eye discomfort, and affect appearance.  Insurance may cover the procedure if your vision is limited.

What You Can Expect:

The actual surgery takes 45 min to 1.5 hours to complete.  You can expect to be at the surgery center for at least 3 hours. Swelling or bruises will disappear in couple of weeks.

When you arrive in the operating room, you will receive an injection to numb your eye. The skin around your eye will be thoroughly cleansed, and sterile coverings will be placed around your head. You may see light and movement, but you will not be able to see the surgery while it is happening.

The surgeon will make incisions along the natural skin lines of the eyelids or from the inside surface of the lower eyelid. The surgeon will separate the skin from underlying fatty tissue and muscle, remove excess fat and sagging skin and muscle. The incisions are then closed with very fine sutures.

Who Is a Good Candidate:

If drooping eyelid skin is blocking your vision, this procedure can help.
